Today was my sorority alumnae group’s Lobster Bake, and we had such a lovely time. A handful of the women I knew from the Manhattan chapter of our alumnae organization, but mostly today was full of brand new faces. And they were great, I jumped right in and felt like I’d known them forever. And, of course, anytime our friend Audrey is involved in an event the food is amazing and plentiful. She is from Maine, so we had some serious lobster. And I finally got to show off my cake. I wasn’t thrilled with the lettering, but I’m still learning and the lobster was the fun part. Here are some photos.

finished lobster cake

The finished cake. Still love the lobster, do not love the lettering. But the cake was good, so in the end who cares?

butter and corn

Butter clarifying and corn cooking. Awesome.

before it rained

The crowd before we were forced indoors by pouring rain. That was fun, moving all the tables and spread indoors.

I’ve never seen so many lobsters in one place.

learning to eat the lobster

Audrey teaches me how to actually get into my lobster, I’ve never been faced with a whole one before.

It rained on our cookout, but it was a great day spent with great people at a beautiful house. Who can complain about that?
