I got 2 surprise care packages this week, and both just made my heart happy. Julie from Jaybird Quilts reached out because she had a Quilter’s Planner she wasn’t going to use, and she asked if I’d like it (obviously YES, because I can’t get enough planners).

Friendships in your 30s are so much different than friendships in your 20s, and thank goodness for that. I hope my 40s are even better.
Kathy and I met 13 years ago when were pretty fresh out of college, working a random office job we’d found ourselves in together. We weren’t happy about it. Our entire early friendship was based on being unhappy. We were snarky, wanting to get on with being who we were going to be. We were restless.
I’ve never done a Blogger’s Quilt Festival entry before. I always end up missing them, and some of the Philly Modern Quilt Guild ladies do them. This time I haven’t missed it. So the assignment is to blog about a quilt you’ve made recently, why you love it, why you made it, why it’s important to you. So I’m picking this one.
We spent a lot of time this weekend celebrating birthdays, and I spent a LOT of time baking.
Yesterday was Adam’s birthday, and I made him devil’s food cake with chocolate buttercream. It was a big hit, I also made his favorite dinner (roast chicken and mashed potatoes).
I know BlogHer was last week, but I haven’t had a chance to post photos of my afternoon wandering the city with my new BFF Shey. These photos were my favorite shots of the whole weekend, and I had such a blast with her in NYC, so I’m sharing.
A freaking gorgeous day in Gotham.

I’ve finished the Purple Quilt, and it’s been delivered to its new home. So now I can show pictures of it and explain why I made it.

I’ve finished the quilt top! And I’m completely in love with it. Actually, here’s a secret: I started this post yesterday and didn’t finish it. As of right now, this quilt is 100% finished.
Last night Julie, Candi, Tricia, and I (all Philly Mod Guild chicas) spent 6 hours sorting out 13,000 quilt blocks at Julie’s parents’ house. The blocks were from the 2nd Modern Siggy Swap, which Julie organized.
It’s been a great few days. Laura Ann and I went up to the Catskills to the Emerson Resort and Spa. We walked around Woodstock, we ate good food, we tried to fish (need a license) and meet a tame bear (but he’d retired). We saw the world’s largest kaleidoscope, which is actually the trippiest thing I’ve ever experienced. Ever. But most importantly, we spent a whole morning at the spa getting scrubbed, buffed, cleaned, polished, and massaged into putty. It. Was. Fabulous.
