My mom and I are in Lancaster, PA this weekend for the big AQS quilt show. Did anyone out there go, too? We head home in the morning, and we arrived last night. We packed it in today, we’ve been going all day. And I mean ALL DAY, my mom flipped on the hotel room light at 6:45 this morning and woke me out of a dead sleep.

We started this morning with a breakfast lecture by Karen Kay Buckley at 9am.

Then we ran around the show floor until 4pm. After dumping our loot in the room (more on that when I get it home and sort it out), we headed out to the quilt stores with extended hours for the show. Everything in Lancaster County closes around 5 on Saturday and doesn’t reopen until Monday morning.

Our first stop was Sylvia Petersheim’s Quilts and Crafts. The most amazing quilts inside and out on the lawn on clotheslines. I loved this store. And, by the way, my mom was the fashionista of the quilt show. Every 5 minutes she was stopped and asked where she got her embroidered denim jacket (Coldwater Creek, 3 years ago).

The next stop was Log Cabin Quilt Shop in Bird-in-Hand, PA. This place was great, and I bought a small bargello quilt made by a local Amish woman. And some of the nicest staff I’ve ever met, I would come back to this family-run shop in a heartbeat.

After revisiting the Old Country Store, we had dinner at Bird-in-Hand Family Restaurant and Smorgasbord. My first smorgasbord! It was yummy, and I loved this sign for the March Madness Jacknife Tournament, apparently a big Amish pastime.

And now, sleep.
