Today was our 10th wedding anniversary, I can’t believe how quickly that went. It feels like we’ve lived such a lifetime since our wedding day, but also…it was brief.

We’re celebrating in Mexico. This month is a whirlwind, with big, exciting things happening I’m not quite ready to announce yet. But I’ve also been planning and preparing for this trip, so I really haven’t posted much. I’m working on that, but for now. This is where I’m at.

Today is a good day. May 19, 2007. These were our centerpieces.

I’ve had a really good year, and I have a really great life. Today I’m just counting my lucky stars.

I bought up every colorway of Eleanor Grosch’s Zoo Menagerie line of cotton fabric that I could find on Fabricworm’s Etsy site (this photo is of one bundle I ordered).

I knew this line was coming out in the fall, but I missed it’s actual release with the craziness of starting a new job. And I nearly missed this fabric altogether, it’s difficult to find all the patterns now. Since I’ve been a huge fan and customer of Eleanor’s going back to her Keds days (when she designed our wedding stationery), I couldn’t let that happen.

So today is officially our 2nd wedding anniversary, but it’s kind of a crazy day. Adam is flying to the UK tonight so he can be best man in our friend Paul’s wedding, so we said our goodbyes this morning. He went straight to the airport from work. I am also fighting off some kind of bug that’s had me under the weather since Sunday. I was home today after a crazy fitful night of sweating, coughing, sweating and coughing some more. You get the idea.

purlweddingquiltI love Purl and Purl Patchwork. That’s where I took my sewing class last spring, and I read their blog The Purl Bee religiously for ideas and inspiration. That’s where I got the tutorial for my Christmas Table Runner-which will get finished for next Christmas. I also love Spoonflower, who printed that sound wave fabric for me.

Adam and I were one of the couples in the middle of the whole Celebration Studios debacle. We were married a year and a half ago but never received our wedding photos. The photography studio went bust, and we’ve spent more than a year filing complaints with Consumer Affairs, talking to our photographer, and just trying to get our photos. With more than 3,000 couples affected, the case was in the media and made it all the way to the NJ Attorney General’s office.

Today is my 1 year wedding anniversary. We had an amazing wedding at the Hudson Hotel in Manhattan last year, it was the most perfect day (even with rain). So, a short post before we head off to a B&B in Pennsylvania to celebrate the day. This was the design for our wedding stationery, and I still love it. This is a Save the Date card. The printed colors of the invites were a little darker, but you get the idea. This was a custom design by Eleanor Grosch at pushmepullyou design. She is awesome, and this design was one of the first things we did while planning. It set the tone for everything else, including the color scheme. Eleanor designed some very cool shoes for Keds, which is how I found her. She also does great prints of her quirky designs; we have several hanging around the house. I’m a huge fan.

These are, without a doubt, the best cupcakes in New York City. Sugar Sweet Sunshine bakery did the cupcakes for my wedding last year (we had a tower of cupcakes instead of a wedding cake), and they were a huge hit. Adam and I are addicted, so whenever I find myself anywhere near the Lower East Side I try and pick some up. So when I was in SoHo today for my sewing class at Purl, I headed over to pick some up before going home. Adam spent the afternoon mowing the lawn, so these were his reward for being all manly and domestic.
