Circle Quilt Pt. 1
I’m finally starting the circle quilt. It took me 4 tries to find the right background fabric. The first I thought of using was the 2nd from the left in the bottom row of this picture. But it was too busy on our dining room walls. Then I thought about using solid chocolate brown, then a retro big floral print. Today I drove down to Mouse Creek Quilts and found this Purl “Cake Rock Beach” fabric with brown on brown dots.
I used to have some of this fabric, but I haven’t seen it available anywhere for ages. They had whole bolts of several prints from this collection, and I think this is perfect background fabric for this project. It’s sophisticated but not stuffy, and the fabrics for the circles pop against it.
I’m still picking out the circle fabrics. I’ve just been laying them all out on the background while I decide which to use. I think the circle shapes will be the size of CDs. We’ll see how long it takes to get this one made.

I can’t wait to see this quilt in progress! I recognize a bunch of the fabrics you’ve chosen and they look great!
Meanwhile, what the phonk?!? There’s a quilt store across the street from the Moon Motel?!? I’ve been driving past that place for four years and I’ve never noticed!

It opened while I was working at LAK. I actually made a wrong turn into that car wash and found the quilt store instead. They’d only been open a month or so at the time. It’s awesome!
