Welcome to my brand-new site! For posterity, I’ve stuck a photo above of how the site looked this morning. Big difference, huh?

I’ve been working (with Adam’s help) on this new site for a few months. The theme is Smoothie by cr1000 on ThemeForest, and we’ve been tweaking menus, logos, and color schemes for a while to get it the way I wanted it. I <3 this new site, and I hope you do, too.

Here are a few things about April that I thought about while putting this month’s collage together:

  • I forget about this project a lot, and April was definitely a regression into lots of yoga pants (those would probably be the days missing photos).
  • I have really, really been digging striped shirts since I was pregnant with H, after a lifetime of avoiding them.
  • I need a haircut (scheduled for tomorrow!). Too many ponytails.
  • It’s already May 7th, and I’m just getting to this post. Lots of THINGS happening here.
  • I miss wearing dresses, but not that white eyelet dress (purchased for a specific purpose, not to be fabulous).

I’m still recovering from the weekend, but this week is off to a really great start. I put together a short list of books for the 5th grade teachers at school, who are getting new class sets of 3 novels next year and asked for my help picking them. The short list I gave them included When You Reach Me by Rebecca Stead,Al Capone Does My Shirts by Gennifer Choldenko, The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan, The Wednesday Wars by Gary D. Schmidt, The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman, and After Tupac and D Foster by Jacqueline Woodson. A couple of those are long shots, but they were looking mainly for Newbery books (I threw in TLT because, well, I love it). There are tons of books out there, and tons that I haven’t read, but this was a list of recent books I’ve read and enjoyed, and I think our students would, too. I made up a packet with blurbs and reviews for each book, so that was productive and pretty fun.

I haven’t touched the Rainbow Quilt in at least a week, but that hasn’t stopped me from drooling over the new Riley Blake collection Rainy Days and Mondays by Melinda and Beccabury. I may possibly have ordered some half yards today…in several colorways.

**I’ve gone back to the original until I make up my mind. I see spots!

I’m still tinkering with this. Right now it’s the khaki background with medium dots, but that could change any minute.

What do you think? I was going to save this until the summer, but I suddenly had the urge this morning to change the background of my blog. Immediately. I also moved some widgets around.
