The last week in August we set out with my mother- and stepfather-in-law on another road trip through New England. We had such a great time back in March that we decided to do it again. But this time instead of Boston and Vermont, we spent a night in Mystic, Connecticut, went back to Portland for a few days, and then finished up in Cape Cod.

The trip up to CT was insane, the traffic through NYC was so much worse than we expected. But, we did find a Shake Shack in Westport that made everyone’s mood better. I’d never been to one, but Adam had one near his old work office.

H really liked the shakes.

The weather was gorgeous today, so we went to Red Bank’s International Flavour Festival late this afternoon to walk around. Last year it was called RiverFest and was held at Marine Park, I’m still trying to figure out if they are 2 different events.

Yesterday was a great day. Adam and I went out to the sheep shearing festival, and as I mentioned yesterday I was only disappointed that there was no actual pig roast and no actual yarn for sale. They had some brown yarn for sale in the Sheep Shoppe, but I’d been hoping for more colors and options. The food they had was great, though. It was homemade barbeque, we just didn’t get to see the barbeque. We had pulled pork and brisket sandwiches, and the gelato was pretty good. But a strange texture, which might be because it’s made with sheep’s milk (I couldn’t confirm this since the kids working the stand didn’t really know).
