Category: Getting Organized

My planner videos will be over at Paper Tangerines now, same as my Instagram! I’m keeping the Orange Room Crafts channel (which is so neglected right now) strictly crafts and creative living.

I think my new Life Planner cover kind of sums it up for this post. In my campaign to catch up on life, to get back to it, I’ve got a few planner updates.

So, I have gotten my hands on some cool stuff lately. Like these t-shirts from Totally Good Time. (I also have a Gilmore Girls shirt, but I’m saving it for the Netflix premiere on Black Friday).

If you’ve never seen a planner video, don’t be like me and fall down the rabbit hole of adorable women decorating hyper-organized planner systems. You’ll be hooked, and life will never be the same. I am becoming one of those women, and I made my first “plan with me” video last week. I did a Halloween-themed spread (that’s planner talk for a week’s layout in a paper planner) in my Erin Condren Life Planner for this week, and I got it all on film.

I’m going to start doing some video tutorials for various things. I’ve gone full native with my paper planner obsession, which has existed for years. I just started a dedicated Instagram for it @orangeroomplans.

This week. This week has been an awful week in the news. It’s been difficult to pull away from the endless analyses, anger, video, heartbreak, and outrage. From every side. And it’s only been four days. I started to just feel depressed, and hopeless, and tired of arguing with people I like but disagree with intensely over huge issues of race and inequality. My stomach hurt, my head hurt, I couldn’t stop reading everything that popped up on my feed.

I’m so behind, and still catching up after my last day of school on June 24th. June was weird. I did some writing I’m tremendously proud of, had some disappointing news, packed up my library for its renovation, and said goodbye to my aunt. I chopped my hair short at the beginning of the month and am still adjusting.

My first New Year’s Resolution this year was to get organized. I needed to try and find some routine, some system, that would help me juggle the everyday tasks that take up so much of my time in my working life and home life. I feel like I’m horribly inefficient when it comes to the day-to-day stuff, devoting far too little or too much time to them and throwing the rest of my life out of balance a little as a result. I’m also a terrible delegator and kind of a control freak; I can never point Adam at the tasks that would be the most helpful, and some of my systems are so obtuse that it’s impossible for him to figure them out. I’m getting better about that, though. I’m learning to care less about how things are done and just be excited that someone else is doing them.
