The rain just won’t quit around here, so it was time for a suitably maudlin new playlist. Such playlists always make Adam look at me wide-eyed because maudlin tends to equal breakup anthem. Tomorrow’s our 4th wedding anniversary, and I can assure everyone that the only reason for these songs is atmosphere. Billy Idol just doesn’t quite cut it on a rainy day. And I was feeling nostalgic for some of the old college stuff in my collection, since May=college graduation season.

This is the best thing ever. A student editing project using The Great Muppet Caper and Ocean’s Eleven. Just for fun.

Most of our days in Las Vegas looked like this:

I could’ve lounged by that pool forever. Last time we were there it was February, and far too cold for the pool. I got bored a lot faster. There’s also ARIA’s spa, my new favorite place on Earth. But, there is more to do in Las Vegas than sit by the pool and go get massages, apparently.

I follow @NathanFillion on Twitter, and yesterday he posted Team Unicorn’s A Very Zombie Holiday video. This turned me on to their very cool YouTube channel, just debuted last fall. And I found Super Harmony. Team Unicorn is my new favorite thing on the internet.

This is such a weird time of year. It hit 80 degrees last week, and tonight it’s supposed to snow. The weather doesn’t know what it wants to be. So I thought a similarly divided playlist was in order. Songs that you can dance to when spring comes, but they also have a touch of moodiness or depth or SOMETHING that makes them kind of wintry, too. At least for the most part, there are some random selections that I just felt like listening to this week. I try not to embarrass myself with my musical selections, but sometimes it just can’t be helped.

My friends got together for my birthday, and we had the best time. Dinner at Fresco by Scotto with several of my favorite people.

Then a bunch of us headed into Brooklyn for Floating Kabarette, an amazing burlesque show held every Saturday at Galapagos Art Space. Can’t recommend it enough, $10 bucks for the most fun I’ve had since my last birthday. Aerialists, can-can girls, the Red Hook Ramblers ragtime band. Fabulous!

Steve Jobs got me good. I can’t get enough of this thing. I’m using an Apple photo of the iPad because I’m writing this post from mine, trying to figure out how to blog on it. And I’m in Philadelphia with a dead camera battery and limited resources, so…stock photo. If it posts, we’ll see if i actually got this to work.

There are so many movies I’m excited for in the new year, but here are 5 to get us going.

Don’t get me started on James Frey’s writing factory controversy. But I can’t deny that the trailers for this film adaptation of Full Fathom Five’s 1st book are intriguing. Can you like a movie if you object on principal to the book from which it’s adapted? February will tell for I Am Number Four.

Yesterday we had a half day at school, so I hopped on the 2:06 train and headed into Manhattan. I went up to the Museum of Natural History to see the parade balloons inflated. My family used to do this almost every year when I was a kid, but there aren’t very many people left who like to go with me. So, until there’s another generation of Reeves to pass this tradition on to, I flew solo.
