Thanks to Sew Like A Man for posting about this, I’ve been looking for a tool that does precisely what this does: convert photos into quilt patterns.

On the heels of the big quilt exhibition at Victoria and Albert Museum in London (my mother-in-law sent me some fabulous clippings about it), the museum is now offering this Patchwork Pattern Maker on its website. I’ve been trying it out, and it is fantastic. You can decide if you want it to make an easy, medium, or hard quilt pattern, decide how many colors you want it to have, and it will tell you exactly how many squares you need in how many colors. You just have to scale the size of the squares to the size of the quilt you want to make. Not too bad at all.
