Other posts about LeakyCon: LeakyCon Pt. 1.

So in addition to the fabulous time we had at the screening and at the park, we saw some pretty great convention sessions, too. I’m actually finishing up this post from the airport, we head home tonight and miss the ball and closing festivities. Which is a little sad, but I’ve been away from home for 3 weeks and am SO ready to get back (weather permitting)!

Some panels were just impossible for getting good photos because of our seats, or security measures, etc. The Opening Ceremony was excellent, and I can now officially say I understand what Pottermore is. That one was definitely no photos; they showed us some really cool stuff that no one else has seen yet. But I’m so glad I went, it’s all starting to make sense to me.

I also saw Snape (from Team Starkid) interviewing some Starkid folks, and we watched a screening of A Very Potter Musical. The 1st act, anyway. Neither of us had ever seen it before, hilarious. But as far as I can tell not worth the insane fangirl vibe running through the whole week–they did something like 4 different signings and photo ops, and each time the line took up the whole convention center.

We also went to a meetup for fans over 30, which was loads better than I was expecting. Some really great, informal discussion about the impact of the books. Lots of professors and educators there, plus some really excellent fans.

This was fun, a surprise MuggleCast/LeakyCast panel inside the park featuring Evanna Lynch (Luna Lovegood, 2nd from the right). It was her first time seeing the park, she was excited.

Potter Puppet Pals was the next greatest thing about LeakyCon after the screening and the park. Neil Cicierega is genius.

This panel with Chris Rankin (Percy Weasley) and the new Potter kids was cute. They were a lot of fun.

Everyone camped out waiting for last night’s Wizard Rock concert to start.

Hank Green’s set, which everyone loved. Terrible picture unfortunately. This was the only part of the concert we stayed for because we are old and got tired. :/

We had tickets for the Team Starkid event this morning, and it was pretty great. A singalong with Darren Criss (Blaine Warbler on Glee for anyone who didn't already know that). My brother was rather excited for this, he's a big Glee fan. That's Darren on the right.

Some of the Starkid songs we'd never heard before, and the rest we'd heard for the 1st time yesterday. But the crowd was freaking out in Darren Criss's presence. And Joey Richter, standing next to him, is also hugely popular. He got the biggest cheers.

The group hug was cute. This was one of the biggest events of the weekend, so I felt several photos were in order.

Now live Quidditch? That was my brother's favorite part of the convention, he is a new instant fan. He was like someone's granddad, commenting on how glad he was "to see these kids outside, getting some exercise, no social networks." We will be attending the Quidditch World Cup in NYC in November now, definitely (something I've suggested to him more than once over the past few years). Here the snitch (the kid with no shirt) takes off at the start of the match between the yellow Butterbeer Monacles (my team) and the black Snapes of Wrath (my brother's team).

The snitch (that's the ball attached to his backside) was fast, some blood was even shed between players, my brother was supremely impressed. He now wants a rule book, and I foresee Quidditch coaching in his future.

The Butterbeer Monacles won. Yeah...we bought t-shirts.

This has been such a thrill, such a great way to celebrate the end of the Harry Potter era (or with Pottermore coming, is it…?). I’m really glad my brother and I took the time to do this together, it was pretty awesome.
