Last week my 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders nominated their favorite books for our library book election. I tallied all the nominations, and this week I gave the kids special ballots for each grade with the top 4 books. They picked two out of the 4, and next week I’ll give them a final ballot with the 2 remaining books facing off in a showdown for favorite.

The kids could nominate anything, including subjects and series. These are the results:

Second Grade
H Montana series
I Spy series
Star Wars series (The kids don’t distinguish between the Galaxy of Fear, Jedi Apprentice, Jedi Quest, and Legacy of the Force series-this includes all of those as far as they’re concerned)
The Cat in the Hat

Third Grade
Goosebumps
series
Bratz series
Junie B. Jones series
Books about football

Fourth Grade
Goosebumps series
Cam Jansen series
Drawing books
Guinness World Records

Fifth Grade
Pokemon series (Again, like Star Wars this means any Pokemon book. They don’t distinguish, but I’ve linked to the one they were all buying from the book fair a few weeks ago)
Goosebumps series
I Spy series
High School Musical 3

So the vast majority are series books or books based on TV/movies. I was kind of excited when The Cat in the Hat got so many votes out of nowhere, but when we talked about why they liked it the answer was they watch the movie all the time.

I’ll post the books I read aloud to pre-k, k, and 1st grade in a day or two.
