Last year for my bridal shower a good friend gave me a gift certificate to BedandBreakfast.com. We’d been saving it for a special occasion and used it for an anniversary trip. We went to New Hope, PA and stayed at the Inn at Bowman’s Hill (pictured here). It was very cool! It’s only an hour and a half from our house, so we stayed one night and got lots of sightseeing and shopping in during a short period of time. The inn is beautiful and has won all kinds of awards. There are only about 5 rooms, so on a Monday night we had the carriage house all to ourselves.

The town of New Hope is right on the PA/NJ border. The Delaware River runs along one edge and there’s a walkable bridge leading to Lambertville, NJ (another very picturesque town). New Hope is artsy and filled with funky shops. We arrived the Monday after Gay Pride weekend, and it is a very friendly town. Karla’s on W. Mechanic St. had a delicious mozzarella panini with prosciutto and other yumminess (that was lunch). The Yardley Inn in nearby Yardley had great beef springrolls and crispy duck (that was dinner).

We bought some kitchen goodies at Hot Plates on S. Main Street in New Hope. We also explored Lambertville, NJ and got really good chocolates from The Chocolate Box. There are rows upon rows of antique shops in Lambertville, but they’re not really my thing. I just went in one to look at the books. We also had tea at Bouteaque, which is the fun little place in this second picture. We bought teas with great names like Buckingham Palace Garden Party.

The cups of tea were GIANT. Adam finished his, I did not even get close.

I think we’ll try and come back someday. I found a great quilting shop down the road in Pennington, NJ. I’ll write about that in another post.
