Yesterday I said I was a bad children’s librarian because children’s books weren’t interesting me. That’s not entirely true, actually.

I’ve been really into Kate DiCamillo’s books this summer. I started with The Tale of Despereaux, then recently I read The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane and Because of Winn-Dixie. All of these stories are so different and still so well done. I was most surprised by how much I liked Because of Winn-Dixie. As I’ve mentioned before, as someone who’s never had a dog I’m never drawn to stories of dogs bringing people together. But I really enjoyed it, and I thought it was a wonderful story for middle readers. Her stuff is great, I’m glad I finally read these.
