IT ALL ENDS 7.15.

So my brother and I are in Orlando for LeakyCon 2011. It’s quite an experience to celebrate the release of the LAST HARRY POTTER film with about 3500 fans. It feels appropriate and lucky to be here for the end of something so momentous to so many people, but I don’t think Rob had any idea how big and extensive this fandom is. He was a little shell-shocked, but we’ve both gotten into the spirit of it and enjoyed all the panels and events we’ve been to.

Including early screenings of the movie yesterday, before the official release today. That was clearly the highlight of this week, and I think we took over pretty much the entire 18 screen theater at Universal CityWalk. Our show was at 6:45pm, and as a fan you know it’s going to be an incredible experience when a full-wand salute breaks out moments before the lights go out:

We were practically all crying the minute the lights went down, and I am so mad that I didn’t think to bring my newly purchased wand (of course I bought one!). This was such a thrill; we all knew when to gasp, when to be silent, when to get ready for something big, and when to start crying…inside and out and this crew knew how to do this screening. And the movie…let’s just say I’m seriously considering bumping it to the top of my Favorite Movies of All Time list, but I need to see it 2 or 3 times more to be sure. 🙂

The Reeve and Carney (my maiden name) families have more than a tiny obsession with burgers. Remember last year when Adam and I painstakingly recreated In-N-Out Burgers? So a few weeks ago, when my brother strongly recommended we all check out Zinburger in Clifton, we headed up to North Jersey to give it a chance.

I am having a fabulous Christmas, I am so thankful for my wonderful family. Adam surprised me with an iPad and a small treasure trove of other goodies. From my family and my in-laws I got an AccuQuilt Go, a Cricket, and a 1st edition of Raymond Briggs’ The Snowman! I was so surprised by all of it, it’s been a wonderful day.

I made my niece Grace a “pouf” of her very own, another 24″ Amy Butler Gumdrop. She bounces on mine constantly when she’s over, and this summer she pulled all her favorite (pink) fabrics from my stash and said, “Make me one please, Aunt Jackie.” So I did, deciding to just use the Rainy Days and Mondays fabric from Riley Blake that I’ve been saving for a deserving project. From these photos, I would count this as entirely worthy.

Last year when we took my niece Grace to see Santa, it didn’t go so well. This year was so much better for her, and my nephew Kyle (who is 10) came, too. We went yesterday and had a great day, but I’ve been sick on and off this weekend and pretty much crashed when we got home.

Grace bounced up and down pretty much the entire time we were on line for Santa.

We went into Manhattan with my brother and my friend Kat to see Avatar in IMAX 3D today (which was awesome but really long). We’ve been planning it for weeks, so of course the blizzard of the century hits today. It was snowing here at the shore this morning, but it wasn’t snowing in New York yet. When we left the movie it had started but wasn’t sticking, so it was just wet and cold. But when we got home it was a different story.
