I’m pretty behind on all my fall adventure posts, but we’ve been having a mild baby crisis around here. H’s been fighting a cold for most of October, it came back after her short-lived episode in September. Which meant sleepless nights and a wacky schedule. Then last night she was burning up and just a miserable, hot mess. So Adam and I both stayed home today to take her to the doctor. She has her first ear infection, not fun, so life has been interesting. And I was waiting for Adam to have a chance to give me some of the photos he’s been taking on all of our weekend excursions. Now I’m trying to catch up.

So a couple of weekends ago we had a great one for the Reeve clan. We celebrated Adam’s birthday by running around doing tons of classic fall things: ate at a turkey farm, went to an apple fritter stand, got mugged by a goat. You know, typical September stuff.

This has been some week. H woke up wailing on Sunday night with her first ever cold, poor thing couldn’t breathe. Adam and I both stayed home with her on Monday because we had no idea if she would get worse. Maybe we were overzealous new parents, but she slept all day and was right as rain yesterday morning. Must have been the right call. So everyone went back to work, but last night Adam and I both started to get sick. I had today off, Adam came home sick from work. And tomorrow is his birthday. It’s a little crazy here, I have not made a cake or even wrapped a present for him yet. I guess this is what we have to look forward to for years to come! But hooray for her little immune system kicking that bug in 24 hours, it was big encouragement for me to keep going with pumping as a working mom.

It has been a rough week. I woke up with a sore throat the day we left DR, and that turned into a burning, itching feeling in my chest and ears, and that turned into an ear infection, sinus infection, and a very nasty cough. I went in to work on Monday, but I’ve been out since then and still have a mild fever. I hate, absolutely HATE, missing work. And I miss it a lot because I’m an asthmatic globe trotter who works with small children and library books. This combination means I pick up every germ that comes down the pipe, and I’m exposed to lots of them. Just once I’d like to finish out a year with an abundance of sick days left, rather than worrying and scrambling to have enough to make it through. It doesn’t help my professional self esteem, no matter how hard I work when I’m there.
