Today’s the day! HFR is 5 years old today. I’m going to get the typical parent cliche out of the way here first by announcing I can’t believe she’s five, it feels like just yesterday when she was born, where does the time go, etc. These are all true statements that run through my head on a regular basis, and at every birthday she’s ever had.
If January was all about decluttering, February was all about illness and injury. Meh. But also, birthdays and parties!!
This was the month I found out I probably need knee surgery. We had a quick round of a stomach bug with Hannah. Adam needs to have more dental surgery soon. And I’ve been snowed under by a nasty cold/sinus infection for the past few days. But, I’m getting there! On the mend.
I turned 37 on the 10th, and I had a great birthday this year. I actually love my birthdays, but this one was especially good. My birthdays stressed me out until I turned 30, and then I realized they weren’t actually scary. Every year older felt like a year of life earned and-well lived. And then I started embracing them with shenanigans and hijinks every year.
So, it turns out I need knee surgery. I injured my knee a few years ago attempting to be an athlete, and I never got it looked at. When it started occasionally flaring up with pain, my GP told me I probably had mild arthritis. So, I’ve just gone on as usual with an extra sore knee when it rains.
Adam’s birthday was on Sunday, and we had a great weekend. We snuck out on Saturday for a date night to see Everest. Then we spent Sunday having fun with Hannah.
The photo of him above because is my new favorite photo of him and Hannah. Hannah insisted on the party hat. His parents gave him an Apple Watch, but Hannah didn’t want to fork over the wrapped treat. And their faces…that’s my entire heart right there with those two.
