We went back to Lancaster July 1-3, but this time it was three generations of women heading to Kitchen Kettle Village. I do love it there, although after our second stay in the Inn at Kitchen Kettle Village I’m a little grossed out by the infrequently-washed carpets. It was much worse this time, I may have to rethink things for our next visit.

This is what we got ourselves up to.

It has been busy around here. Today was Hannah’s last day of school, and I’ve been writing and sewing quite a bit. Plus, all of the makeover prep for this site!

So, it is taking a while to finish posting these trip photos from Normandy. I still have quite a few, but I’m going to bust them all out in one final post.

I love, love, loved Rouen. I especially loved the timber-framed buildings.

I didn’t realize today was the 70th anniversary of D-Day, and I hadn’t planned on posting these photos. I was going to talk about Rouen and a zoo and more food. But, it seems like a really good time to just post the photos we took. My lens was filthy on that beach, I have no idea why. It was windy and sandy, I guess.

Dieppe was the nearest city to where we were staying in France. We spent an afternoon tooling around there, and we also poked around in some other gorgeous spots in the area near the little house.

After spending last weekend in DC, Hannah and I dropped Adam off at the train station so he could come back to NYC for work. But I’d decided a couple of months before that it would be really fun for Hannah and me to go away together for a few days during her spring break. A mommy/daughter trip.

So, we (I) decided to drive from Washington to Lancaster county in PA. After a morning running around DC together, we hopped in the car and set off.

Hannah’s school was closed for spring break this week, so we decided to drive down to Washington D.C. last weekend to see the sites. Neither Adam nor I had been to DC since we were kids. We were only there from Friday night through Monday, and there was so much we didn’t get to see. But we had such a marvelous weekend; gorgeous weather, lots to see and do, tons of fun with the toddler. We’re already anxious to go back.

We spent all of last week at an all-inclusive in Punta Cana with my other set of in-laws. And my BIL Thomas. It was glorious, but insanely hot and humid. And I did get a little twitchy with so little internet access. But endless beachside piña coladas definitely made up for it, as did the incredible massage I had in a hut on the beach. And Hannah loved it; she had a solid routine down of mornings at the pool, naps in the room, afternoons on the sand. Not a bad way to bring in October.

Other posts on this trip: Connecticut.

Once we left Connecticut we headed back up to Portland. We just loved it so much when we were there in March, and we really wanted to go back to Duckfat.

We were there for 3 days, and we spent more time wandering around the city. East End Cupcakes was yummy.

The last week in August we set out with my mother- and stepfather-in-law on another road trip through New England. We had such a great time back in March that we decided to do it again. But this time instead of Boston and Vermont, we spent a night in Mystic, Connecticut, went back to Portland for a few days, and then finished up in Cape Cod.

The trip up to CT was insane, the traffic through NYC was so much worse than we expected. But, we did find a Shake Shack in Westport that made everyone’s mood better. I’d never been to one, but Adam had one near his old work office.

Hannah really liked the shakes.

My computer’s network adapter was fried earlier this week during one of the endless thunderstorms we’ve had here at The Shore, so I am only now posting about my wedding anniversary last weekend.

We were married on May 19, 2007, and this is the first year since my first anniversary in 2008 that I have not blogged on the exact date. This is because Adam and I decided to be brave and drop Hannah at my mom’s for the night so we could head down to Revel in Atlantic City. It was the first time we’ve ever been separated overnight, and I was nervous the entire week leading up to it. But, she was thrilled to see her Nana, and we were able to Skype with her before her bedtime. She was in a great mood, having a great adventure. That made the entire weekend so much better, and I was able to relax after that.
