It’s been a busy few weeks, with all of my summer writing deadlines and article edits coming up within a short window. I haven’t had much time to write here the past week. I’ve also been trying to get some quilts made and tutorials written.

This girl had such a great season. Last summer H wasn’t even walking on her own yet. This was her first real kid summer, and I’m sad to see it go. I mean, it’s still 84 degrees outside, but you know how summer feels “over” once Labor Day comes and goes. From Lancaster with my mom to the county fair to fruit picking to visiting grandparents, we did a ton of stuff in those two-and-a-half months. I didn’t realize how much until I looked back this morning. Here are some more summer photos.

I got the idea in the latest issue of Stitch magazine to make a beach blanket using laminated cotton for the back. This would keep water from soaking through the ground into the blanket you’re sitting on. Genius.

We took H to the beach for the first time today, and we tried out the beach blanket I just finished making yesterday. I’ll post more about that later this week, I’m kind of in love with it.
