Ebert & Roeper Are Leaving

Earlier this week, film critics Roger Ebert and Richard Roeper announced that they are officially leaving their show Ebert & Roeper. I watched the show for most of my life; I remember feeling incredibly sad when it changed from Siskel & Ebert.

I was what you might call a “film geek” as a kid. Maybe that’s an understatement. People don’t always believe me when I tell them this (I hardly believe it myself), but my earliest memory is sitting in a movie theatre, trying to see over people’s heads, and watching Kermit the Frog ride a bike. Now, The Muppet Movie came out the year I was born, I would have been maybe 9 or 10 months old. But I haven’t seen it since, and that image stuck with me. I have loved movies for literally as long as I can remember; they’re magical. And I loved Siskel and Ebert. There is a great post from Roger Ebert’s blog about the history of the show.

You know what I like about this blog? You keep telling me things I didn’t previously know: like how to quilt, or what an Etsy is, or how to cook… anything. You’re like my personal TASS.

I haven’t seen At The Movies since Siskel died, and though I don’t much appreciate Eberts’ viewpoint, I think he’s a fantastic film critic: one of the few left qualified to give me an opinion. Thnaks for the update.
