Today was the day. After realizing that one of the 14 shops is closed until Monday (and closed at 3 yesterday), I knew I wouldn’t be able to get to all 14 for the scavenger hunt. So I decided to just take my time today and hit as many shops as I could. I got to 7, which I think is pretty great. And it gives me 7 shots at one of those gift baskets.

nycyarncrawlI’m extremely excited about this.

My friend Laura Ann sent me the link for this 4-day event, taking place over Columbus Day Weekend (October 9-12). I’m absolutely participating, and I’m hoping that I’ll hit all 14 participating stores and compete in the scavenger hunt. new fall scarfI haven’t knit or crocheted anything in more than a year! A few weeks ago I was itching for a new yarn project, the stash in my closet was making me feel rather guilty. So I decided to make a new scarf for fall after seeing the preppy Stripes (and Stripes) Forever Scarf by Chelsea Fowler-Biondolillo featured in Stitch ‘n Bitch Crochet: The Happy Hooker by Debbie Stoller. Yesterday was a great day. Adam and I went out to the sheep shearing festival, and as I mentioned yesterday I was only disappointed that there was no actual pig roast and no actual yarn for sale. They had some brown yarn for sale in the Sheep Shoppe, but I’d been hoping for more colors and options. The food they had was great, though. It was homemade barbeque, we just didn’t get to see the barbeque. We had pulled pork and brisket sandwiches, and the gelato was pretty good. But a strange texture, which might be because it’s made with sheep’s milk (I couldn’t confirm this since the kids working the stand didn’t really know).

The first thing I wanted to do when I got home from vacation was clean my studio. I had fabric scraps everywhere, buckets in the middle of the floor, books and magazines on every surface. I still had a bag with the Christmas cards we received last year sitting in the middle of the room. Now that it’s all tidy and everything is back (mostly) where it belongs, I thought I’d post some photos of the Orange Room.
