On Saturday Adam and I went to Philly for a little anniversary celebrating. We had dinner at home on Thursday night, so Saturday was our first chance at a day out. We went to IKEA and got 2 of these loungers, which I love. The boxes were huge, and Adam had to ride home in the seat behind mine. We had cheesesteaks. And I went to Spool to meet Eleanor Grosch. Adam met her, too.

I’ve mentioned before that Eleanor designed our wedding stationery, but I’d never actually met her until this past Saturday. On Friday I heard through the Philly Modern Quilt Guild that she’d be doing a demo at Spool on Saturday, and Adam and I both decided it was too good a chance to pass up on our anniversary weekend. I brought wedding photos, I almost wore the Keds, I was thisclose to making a complete example of myself. Expecially when Jay McCarroll walked in to say hi to Eleanor. I held it together, though, and only embarassed myself a little (I talk a lot).

That’s Eleanor on the right. Her friend Jen did the demo for this project.

The project was a little Noah’s Ark out of Zoo Menagerie.

Adam was a trooper when we got home, he put the loungers together IN THE RAIN. I have not yet been able to sit in them because of the vast quantities of precipitation falling from the sky. But they’re out there, waiting. Taunting us both with the promise of sunshiney afternoons on the patio. One. Day.

Then yesterday I drove up to hang out with my mom for a little while before meeting up with Kathy. We had a marathon 4 hour gab session at Tick Tock Diner, my favorite of all the NJ chromed eating establishments. I think that may have broken our record for most time spent talking in one place. The diner has gone a little Hollywood since being featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives a few years ago, but my favorite cheeseburger deluxe with mozzarella was still available if you asked.

An excellent weekend, topped off with the TiVo’d Spanish Formula 1 Grand Prix. Now I have to get ready for Book Expo America tomorrow. I can’t believe it’s here already!
