Today I finally started this project up again. Ian, my stepfather-in-law, has an August birthday. I was furiously trying to finish this quilt in time for their visit this past week, but it took all the fun out of the process. And it was a tall order for my skills. This is my first quilt of this size, after all.

Anyway, I haven’t sewn anything in a little more than a month, and I’d abandoned this project entirely for a while. The deadline forĀ  this was too much of a mind trip. Plus we had that whole green card thing happening and I was gearing up for summer reading at work.

But the in-laws are heading back to the UK tonight, and I suddenly had the urge to work on this quilt again. I’ve started piecing the second set of blocks, which is going to take me a while. But I’ve decided not to give myself a deadline. When it’s done, it’s done. Now it’s fun again, and I can take my time. I’ve been itching to make something for more than a week, and I was just completely blank on what to do. I was actually starting to get really annoyed and frustrated at this creative block. Then it just occurred to me that I should finish the quilt I started. I’ll post pictures when I’ve finished piecing the whole second set of blocks. But I’m very satisfied to be working on something.
